Bathe no more than every 4-6 weeks, brush occasionally with a soft-bristled brush to remove dead hair, and feed a good-quality diet with no wheat, corn, soy, or non-specific ingredients.

High quality food and regular grooming with a soft-bristled brush or grooming mitt.
A healthy coat comes from the inside. Feed properly. If your greyhound doesn’t have any health conditions barring a high protein diet and is older than a year to two year, I would say feed the highest protein food you can afford. For reviews on quality food, go to http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com. I would recommend a 4 star or higher food. You can supplement the 4 star foods with an egg yolk once a week, a tbsp of olive oil once a week.
Don’t bathe the dog unless it’s dirty. My dogs are bathed once a season (4 times a year). Washing the dog strips his coat of natural oils that give it a shine and also keeps the skin from becoming dry. When you do bathe the dog, if he is prone to dry skin, use a dog shampoo with natural surfactants and oatmeal. This will aid in not drying out the skin/coat and nourish it as well. You can also follow up with a dog conditioner.
Greyhounds don’t require tedious grooming. I would caution the use of stiff metal or really course brushes as their skin is extremely thin. I wouldn’t want to run the risk of cutting my dog. A soft brush two or three times a week should help with shedding the dead hair.
Top quality food, salmon oil daily, bath no more than 3 times a year at most (greyhounds don’t like water and they have NO smell), and groom often because it helps distribute oils throughout the coat, and keeps the coat healthier. The best tool I’ve found to brush a greyhound is a hound mitt – the bristles are very soft rubber, its great at getting dead hair out and the dogs love it because it feels like a massage. Second best would be a bristle brush. Metal curry combs are too hard on a bony greyhound.
put a little cod liver oil on his food to groom my dogs i use a thing could a zoom groom rubber brush or a hacksaw blade drawn lightly do s a nice job and finish of with a chamois leather spray tee tree oil helps keep skin good bath every 6 months if he is not racing he will not need hi protein food
